More details

This profile can be compared somewhat to a 9-bar profile, except that the pre-infusion logic is "smarter and gentler," while the main extraction phase is flow-based. Unlike all other variants, there is no additional blooming phase, which makes the dialing-in process easier, especially with darker roasts. The goal is to reach around 6–9 bar during the main extraction phase. Temperature and ratio can be set according to the roaster's recommendation. Time can be ignored, since it is regulated by the flow.

Quick settings

Weight mode

Weight = Dose x Ratio

Example: 18g in x 1:2 ratio = 36g out

Time mode

For time mode, stop the brew manually the first time and enter the time in the settings.

Roast and ratio recommendations

Medium-dark roasts

  • Around 91°C
  • Ratio: 1:1.5 to 1:2.5

Medium-light roasts

  • Around 94°C
  • Ratio: 1:2.5 to 1:3+

After your first shot

  • If the coffee tastes sour or salty, try a higher ratio like 1:2.5+ and consider a slightly higher temperature.
  • If the coffee tastes bitter or dry, try a lower ratio like 1:1.5- and consider a slightly lower temperature.
  • If pressure looks too low or the basket has extra headspace, check Troubleshooting.
