3. Hosting with GitHub Pages
All websites covered by this policy are hosted with GitHub Pages, a service provided by GitHub. When one of these websites is requested, GitHub processes technical connection and usage data. GitHub specifically states that visitors' IP addresses are logged and stored for security purposes, whether or not the visitor is signed in to GitHub.
Processing is necessary to deliver the websites securely, maintain their availability and prevent abuse. The legal basis, insofar as we determine this processing, is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests are the secure and reliable provision of these official websites and the associated open-source and creative projects. Providing connection data is technically necessary to use the websites.
GitHub may process data in the United States and other countries. GitHub describes its international-transfer safeguards, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, in its privacy statement. Details about GitHub's processing and retention are available in the GitHub General Privacy Statement and the GitHub Pages documentation.
4. Browser-based installation and local device access
When browser-based installation or local-device functions are used, the browser downloads the required manifests, software files or other resources from the respective website. Access to a connected device begins only after it is selected through a browser interface such as Web Serial. Communication with the selected device takes place locally between the browser and the device. We do not receive serial communication, credentials, pairing information or device settings. Inputs and selections used by these functions are processed in the browser and are not received by us.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
The websites covered by this policy do not use analytics, advertising trackers or optional cookies. They do not store their own tracking identifiers in local storage or session storage. No consent banner is therefore shown. If these practices change, this policy and, where required, the consent mechanism will be updated before the new processing is enabled.
6. YouTube videos
YouTube content on the covered websites is never loaded automatically. The page first displays a local notice and a load control. Only after you select “Load video from YouTube” is a connection made to YouTube using its privacy-enhanced embed domain. YouTube and Google may then receive your IP address and technical usage data and may store or access information on your device. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. The decision is not saved by our websites; reloading the page removes the embedded player and lets you decide again. See the Google Privacy Policy for further information.
7. Email contact
If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide to answer your request. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for general website or project enquiries and Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the communication is necessary for steps requested by you in connection with a contractual relationship. Messages are deleted when the enquiry has been resolved and no legal retention obligation or overriding legitimate interest requires continued storage.
8. External links
The covered websites link to third-party services. No connection to those services is initiated merely because a normal text link is displayed. If you follow a link, the third party's own privacy information applies.
9. Your rights
Subject to the legal requirements, you have the right to:
- access your personal data and receive a copy;
- rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
- erase data or restrict its processing;
- receive data you provided in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future; and
- object to processing based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for reasons arising from your particular situation.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority, particularly in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement.
10. Automated decision-making
The websites covered by this policy do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
